About Us

Classical Roots is a music school located in Brampton, ON with over 10 years of experience in teaching Tabla to students of all ages and backgrounds. We specialize in Tabla and offer lessons in classical, light/semi-classical, film, and ghazal style playing. Backed by the traditions passed down by our revered Guruji, Smt. Rachna Mehra, we are able to offer an extensive and proven curriculum that gives students the foundation and tools to learn exponentially.

Our Founder and Guruji, Shri Ray Persaud, has studied under the strict guidance of Smt. Rachna-ji for 20+ years, garnishing many different accolades, from accompanying many of the top local and international musicians, to working with different recording artists and music labels. He has been a prominent member of the musical community in Canada since the early 2000's and continues to work with many artists to create and inspire generations to come.
